Why so many Wichita Falls property owners look at wells
Wichita Falls lived through one of the worst droughts in its history from 2010 to 2015, and the city brought back watering restrictions in 2023. Residential water bills have also climbed sharply since that drought. For many homeowners a private irrigation well is a way to keep a lawn and garden alive under day-of-week watering limits, and for rural acreage around Burkburnett, Iowa Park, Holliday and Henrietta a well is often the only water source for the house and livestock.
The City of Wichita Falls does allow private residential wells, but with rules. Its water well review checklist says a well cannot tie into an irrigation system that is also connected to city water, and an electrical permit is needed for the pump. A good contractor handles these details and pulls the right permits.

What a new well costs
Public cost guides put a typical U.S. well at about $3,000 to $9,000, and a complete Texas system often runs $6,000 to $30,000 depending on depth, casing and pump. Texas wells average roughly 300 feet deep. The only way to know your price is an on-site quote, which is what we help you get.
